Celebrate the opening of Silvis' first permanent NatureWalk! We'll have a ribbon cutting and refreshments, and then we'll explore the NatureWalk together. Signs along the path display interesting and fun facts about the plants, animals, and insects that call Phipps Prairie Park their home. The NatureWalk Project is part of the Silvis Public Library Centennial Series.

Lego Club: Rainbow

Set in the mountains of southern Appalachia, Demon Copperhead is the story of a boy born to a teenaged single mother in a single-wide trailer, with no assets beyond his dead father's good looks and copper-colored hair, a caustic wit, and a fierce talent for survival. Relayed in his own unsparing voice, Demon braves the modern perils of foster care, child labor, derelict schools, athletic success, addiction, disastrous loves, and crushing losses. Demon Copperhead speaks for a new generation of lost boys and all those born into beautiful, cursed places they can't imagine leaving behind. Quad City Animal Welfare Center: Mobile Vet Visit

The Quad City Animal Welfare Center’s Mobile Vet van will be in the library’s parking lot on May 10th from 12-2pm. They will provide wellness clinic services, including vaccinations, heartworm testing, microchipping, and flea/tick/heartworm products. They do not see sick or injured animals. In the waning days of the Civil War, brothers Prentiss and Landry—freed by the Emancipation Proclamation—seek refuge on the homestead of George Walker and his wife, Isabelle. The Walkers, wracked by the loss of their only son to the war, hire the brothers to work their farm, hoping through an unexpected friendship to stanch their grief. Parallel to their story runs a forbidden romance between two Confederate soldiers. When their secret is discovered, the resulting chaos, including a murder, unleashes convulsive repercussions on the entire community.
