About Us

The Silvis Public Library is a member of the PrairieCat Library Consortium. This allows for resource sharing at any of the libraries within the state of Illinois. Silvis residents, 3 years of age and above, may apply for a Silvis library card. Our library offers Adult Programming, Family Story Time, and Summer Reading Programs. We have in-house internet (including wi-fi) that is accessible to patrons and non-residents. Reservations are available for the use of our Quiet Room (seating for up to 6). Our website offers links to the PrairieCat online catalog, and downloadable books. A Calendar of all library events is also on our webpage.

Our Services for You

We offer many services at the library.  For more information, please select the service you are interested in from the list below.

Your Library Card

Library cards are provided free of charge to all residents of our district, as part of your tax-supported library services.

Your card gives you borrowing privileges here and at most public libraries in the Quad City area. Click here to learn how to get a library card.

How To Opt Into Text Alerts From Your Library

The SMS Alert lets you receive convenient text messages about overdue items or holds that are ready for pick up—all  on your mobile device!

1. To opt into texts, go to the  the catalog on our webpage.

2. Login to your account (upper  right-hand corner of screen.) You will need your  library card number and your PIN.

3. Click on your name in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.

4. Find your name on the left-hand side of the screen and click the Edit Account Button. 

 5. Add your mobile phone number. This is a must!

6. Click the box to the left of Opt In.

7. Scroll down using the scroll bar on the right-hand side of the screen.

8. Click the Submit button to enroll in the SMS Alert Service.

Text service may take 24-48 hours to register. You may opt out at any time. If your cellular carrier or number changes, please update your account!

Interlibrary Loan

If you need a book, DVD, or other item that we don't have, ask us.

You can also place a hold on any material through the online card catalog.

Once your item has been received, you will be informed by phone or mail that the item is available.  The item will be held for 3 days before it is sent back to the original library. 


If you want to cancel the item, please notify us within 3 days of the initial phone call.  If you do not notify the library or pick up the item, there will be a charge of $0.50 added to your library card.

The staff is happy to assist you on any questions you may have, from finding a book to general reference questions.  Please ask us.  We are here to help you!

Adult Summer Reading Program

Sign up begins June 15th

To enter into the Grand Prize Drawing, each participant will be required to read 3 books (from various genres) and complete their “Tic Tac Toe” logbook.

(Limit 1 entry per person)

Read 7 books a week to your infant

You may then visit the Baby & Me Prize Box

Parent or Guardian will also receive 1 entry into our weekly drawing

After completing all 5 weeks, you may enter into the Grand Prize Drawing

This year's Grand Prize is either a Boy or Girl Gift Basket
